Minutes from January 10, 2004 MAJ Meeting
This month’s meeting was held at Sammy Samuels’ house. The meeting started at approximately 6:45
pm. Eleven members, one applicant, and
two guest/prospective applicants attended the meeting.
President’s Report:
- Don
opened the meeting and asked John Cuoghi and his
son Alex to introduce themselves.
- The
Toys for Tots run in December had a good turnout. Based on discussions with the Marines at
the drop-off, the club hopes to expand its involvement this year.
- The BOD
met before the January meeting to work out the schedule for the 2004
meetings and events. Don then went
through the meeting and event schedule.
(Secretary note: See the website for the new event
schedule.)
- For
February, since the normal meeting would have fallen on Valentine’s Day,
the BOD decided to have the meeting at a day trip. The First Annual “Rookie Run” will be
held on February 7th at Shoe Creek. This trip will be good for new members, members with stock vehicles, and a good
break-in trip.
- Don is
attending a meeting of a new group forming in Virginia to help lobby,
protect, and open new areas for use by off-highway vehicles in
Virginia. The organization will be
similar to the Blue Ribbon Coalition, but more involved at the state
level. The group will mainly be
organizing this year. The meeting
is instructional about legislation and possibly obtaining budget from the
state.
- The
March meeting will also be at Sammy’s house.
